Mantels are individually selected from our premier stock. Each mantel is pressure washed, de nailed, milled flat and sanded smooth on top and back. Then, by hand, the face and bottom of piece is chiseled and ground until all visible sides are completely touchable. This is followed by a 200 year old Norwegian technique of saturation of piece with walnut oil and natural bees wax. This true hand rubbed finish, gives you a heavy, deep toned piece of furniture that can be handed down from one generation to the next.
